Subj: HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON Part Six
Date: 7/22/00 6:55:07 AM Central Daylight Time
From: N.E. Collins

It was now a little over three months that the castaways had found themsleves stranded together on Gilligan's Island. Last weekend they had gathered for a celebration of sorts. They did what they could to keep their spirits up and a party seemed the easiest to break up the monotony and tensions of their ordinary nights and days. The different couples plus the lone Professor trikled into the open air dining area. Two months ago they had abandoned the community hut and set up individual quarters. The Skipper and Gilligan were one household, the girls shared a bungalow, the Howels had their island estate as did the Collins', and the Professor lived alone. He would have bunked in with the Skipper and Gilligan, but at their insistence he had his own living space where he could further his experiments that could make island living less strenuous. He had come up with some interesting contraptions.

For instance, he had created a record player and with the small collection of tunes that Ginger had brought along they had music at their disposal. At least, Ginger thought she brought the music. It was just like some music she had had in her possession. Well, the fact was that the records were here and since she had once owned them one could naturally assume that she had originally packed them for the trip. And this was not the only instance of items and accessories belonging to others that mysteriously seem to make their way into their lives. The explanation that everyone excepted was that so-and-so had packed it. Everyone excepted this except for Julia. She knew better. She knew it was all the doing of Angelique Collins.

The guest were all present and the Professor started up the victrola. The girls brought out the food. Steaming clams, coconut cream pie, roast duck and lobster! It was a feast fit for kings. And this was another point of contention to Julia Collins. No one else ever questioned the abundance, the good bounty that they had experienced on an almost daily basis. Why, there was one time when it seemed as if they had run out of fresh water and their food supply was short and scarce. A flock of wild ducks landed on the island, and Gilligan discovered an underground spring from following a frog through the jungle! The Professor said it was all due to the miracle of natural phenomena. "Natural phenomena, my Aunt Fanny!" Julia said to herself. She knew it was the further machinations of Angelique.

The meal had been going quite pleasantly until someone brought up the question of what really happened to cause the S.S. Minnow to sink? It got ugly real fast and the party broke up early, and the Skipper vowed that there would be a re-enactment of the actual event of the sinking of the ship. He was out to prove that his little buddy was innocent of all fault in the matter, although he didn't quite believe it himself. And the rest of the party was sure that Gilligan was the one to blame for their dire predicament. All of them except for Julia who knew the awful truth. She hadn't even shared what happened on that three hour cruise with her Barnabas.

As she sat in the shade while the Skipper and Gilligan along with the assistance of the Professor played out the past tragedy, her mind went back to a time before. She was on the deck of the S.S. Minnow when the dark storm clouds came up suddenly. Everyone had fled to the safety of the lower decks while Gilligan and the Skipper had sprung into action! Julia had a certain fascination for storms and she had lingered to see more before she sought safety. She was carefully making her way along the ship's deck when she came face to face with Angelique!

She asked her if she was responsible for the storm and the witch had laughed and replied no, it was not of her doing, but she did have something to offer the present circumstances. She raised her arms and intoned something in an unknown tongue, and then she spoke these words, "Rise! Rise ye restless spirits of galley slaves who were taken to your watery graves against your will! Rise up and tear this craft asunder!" Lightening flashed as Julia looked to the sides of the ship where fish eaten human figures were clawing their way over the sides! She drew back in fearful alarm, but she did not run. Instead she confronted the witch quite boldly.

"You are a coward! For all your great dark power you are just a silly foolish frightened woman! If you cannot have want you what you destroy it, and that is the way an angry child behaves! You can destroy us all, yes! But we did not give in to you, Angelique! You have won NOTHING!"

It may have angered her, but Angelique Collins simply smiled wickedly as she almost sweetly replied, "Nothing you say? But my dear, dear, doctor, the game is just beginning. The final scores have yet to be posted. Aloha, Dr. Hoffman, oh, I mean, Collins." She faded away and her laughter remained. The sky darkened completely and everything spun and spun, until Julia dropped hopelessly from exhaustion.

She snapped back to the moment. Eveyone was clapping Gilligan on the back and congradulating him. They had determined that he had not been responsible for the sinking of the Minnow. Even Barnabas joined in the merriement to Julia's disbelief. Even though she had not confided in him couldn't he see that the ship sinking and this ready made island paradise had Angelique's dirty fingerprints all over it?
