As Adam was in another part of the house, Barnabas sat in a chair in the living room and thought about what Adam had said. He supposed that everyone had the same opinion that he shouldn't be blaming himself for something that could not have been helped. He thought that Amy had been trying to say the same thing when she had spoken to him on the phone when he called Colllinwood. He didn't know how Sabrina felt about him.

No one knew how hard it would be on him to go back to the Old House. He would always have the memories of Chris' accident to be on his mind. Deep down, he didn't want to leave Adam by himself in such a large house. He had a feeling that Nicholas would try to find his way back and he didn't know what the man would do to Adam.

Adam didn't hear any sound coming from the living room, so he went to see what was wrong. He found Barnabas still sitting in the chair deep in thought. He didn't want to disturb him, so he turned and went back into the kitchen. He knew what Barnabas was thinking about.

Julia and Willie had no way of knowing how Barnabas was being plagued with all of the self-doubt about returning to the Old House. Willie knew what Julia had told him about Barnabas retuning to the Old House when he was ready, but he was afraid he would change his mind and not return home. He knew how badly Julia missed him being there.

At Collinwood, Amy sat in her room and thought about how badly Barnabas was feeling. She had felt the same way after Chris had his accident.

Barnabas had fallen asleep while he was reading. When he woke up, the book still was in his lap. He looked around, but he didn't see Adam anywhere. He got up and went searching for him. As he walked through the kitchen, he saw the basement light was on. He called downstairs.

"Adam"

"What?"

Barnabas walked down the steps. He found Adam wandering around the basement. He didn't think that Adam had heard him walk down to the basement.

He saw Adam's eyes were locked onto something on the wall. He walked over to where Adam stood and placed his arm on his shoulder. Adam seized a shovel, spun around with the shovel raised and missed Barnabas' head by inches. When Adam saw who was behind him, he let the shovel fall from his hands. When Adam asked Barnabas if he was all right, he assured him that he was.

"What's wrong, Adam?"

"Look at the mirror."

Barnabas looked at where Adam directed him to. Looking back at the two of them was the cold evil eyes and face of Nicholas Blair.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know."

Adam picked up the shovel where he dropped it.

"What are you going to do?"

Adam told Barnabas to go over to the steps. Barnabas did, although he wondered why. He saw Adam raise the shovel and hit the mirror shattering it into a million pieces.

Adam laid down the shovel and the two of them went back upstairs. When Barnabas asked him if he was allright, he nodded. Barnabas' eyes travelled over to where Adam sat across from him. After what the two of them had seen in the basement, he knew he was not leaving Adam behind.

"Adam."

"What?"

"When I leave, I want you to come with me."

Adam shook his head.

"Why not?"

"There are too many people there."

"It is just Willie, Julia and me."

"Do you want me to?"

"If you want to."

"What are we going to do now?"

"We'll go somewhere else."

"Where?"

"I don't know."

Adam packed what the two of them were taking with them, picked up the car keys and he and Barnabas walked out the front door. Barnabas locked the door behind them.
