Barnabas You mean because of Sarah.

Quentin Yes.

Barnabas Did you explain that to her?

Quentin No.

Barnabas Maybe you should. god knows if I'd been more honest with Josette we might have had more time together.

Quentin What weren't you honest about?

Barnabas Alot of things. You should talk to Angelique.

Quentin I will. (They smile.)

Act 2 Scene 4

(Collinwood. Enter Quentin. He enters the library and walks to a table. He picks up the brandy. He shivers and sits it down. He picks up a decanter with water in it and pours some. He takes a sip)

From now on I'm sticking to water. (He hears a noise on the stairs. He walks to the door. He sees Maggie and Gabriel coming down the stairs)

Maggie Are you sure he's not home?

Gabriel I know my brother. He won't be here for hours.

Maggie I...(He kisses her passionately and she pushes him back. They enter the library and stop. Quentin is sitting in a chair. He's reading a paper. He looks up. He smiles at Maggie and Gabriel) Hello Quentin.

Quentin Hello Maggie, Gabriel. Are you two just getting here?

Gabriel Yes. Maggie is staying for dinner.

Quentin Oh. I just came in to freshen up. I have an appointment. (He stands) Excuse me. (He exits. Maggie looks at Gabriel)

Maggie He knows.

Gabriel No he doesn't. So have you found some one to take Catherine's place?

Maggie Yes. Angelique.

Gabriel Oh?

Maggie We had a long talk. Did you know that she loves your brother? (He shakes his head) Well she does. She was heartbroken when she found out that he'd been killed.

Gabriel Really. Maybe it's for the best. (They hear the door close) Maybe it'll be a double wedding. (They smile.)
