Gabriel, He's Quentin's partner. He has blond hair and blue eyes. He's 6' tall.

Maggie, She's engaged to Gabriel. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She's 5'6" tall.

Matthew, he works for the Collins family. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He's 6' tall.

Marcus, he's related to Maggie. He has brown hair and green eyes. He's 6' tall.

Lucas, he's related to Sarah. HE has blond hair and hazel eyes. He's 6' tall.

(Act 1 Scene 1 Collinwood. Enter Gabriel. Quentin is sitting in the library. Gabriel enters and sees Barnabas there.)

Gabriel: Cousin Barnabas! When did you arrive?

Barnabas: Half an hour or so. How are you?

Gabriel: I'm fine. Did Quentin tell you the news? (Barnabas looks at Quentin.) I can see he didn't.

Barnabas: And what are you dying to tell me?

Gabriel: While you've been away Quentin and I got engaged.

Barnabas: Don't you think the blood line is too close?

Gabriel: I -- (He sees the smile on Barnabas' face.) -- I asked Maggie to marry me. Quentin asked Sarah.

Barnabas: Congratulations. Have you set a date?

Gabriel: Maggie and I are getting married in a month.

Barnabas: How about you Quentin?

Quentin: Sarah and I haven't decided. (He smiles at them) We want Gabriel's and Maggie's day to be special.

Barnabas: I see. So when are the brides to be coming here to meet the family?

Quentin: In the next week.

Gabriel: Will you stay for the wedding?

Barnabas: I'm here for a lot longer.

Quentin: Then you are moving into the Old House.

Barnabas: Yes.

Gabriel: It's good to have you home. Will Josette be joining you?

Barnabas: No.(He has a sad look on his face.)

Quentin: Shall we go into dinner?

Gabriel: Yes.

(They exit.)

(Act 1 Scene 2 a small cottage. Maggie is sitting in a chair and she's reading. She hears a noise from the back. She stands and walks to the back. There is a shadow.)

Maggie: At least you made it back in time for the wedding.

Voice: What about Quentin?

Maggie: He's engaged to Sarah but they haven't set a date yet.

Voice: Oh. Are you happy with Gabriel?

Maggie: Very. (She smiles) I love him.

Voice: Good.

(The shadow disappears and Maggie exits.)

(Act 1 Scene 3 A house, and Sarah is in her bedroom. She's dressed for bed and is brushing her hair. Her lamp goes out and she turns to look.)

Sarah: Who's there?

Voice: Have I been away that long?

Sarah: Oh no! (She stands and they embrace. They share a long deep passionate kiss.)

Voice: I've missed you.

Sarah: I've missed you. Tell me why I have to go through with this sham? Every time he touches me my skin crawls.

Voice It will be over soon. I promise. (They kiss.)

(Act 1 Scene 4 The next morning at Quentin and Gabriel's office. They enter. They stop and stare. The office is in a shambles. They look at each other.)

Quentin: Well whoever did this didn't find what they were looking for or --

Gabriel: -- or they did and just forgot to tidy up afterwards. (They start straightening up) Are you sure you didn't have a blackout?

Quentin:Yes. I didn't drink. Did you and Maggie come looking?

Gabriel: No. (They smile) When are you and Sarah going to set a date?

Quentin: I don't know. All I know is she wants to wait. (He picks up some ledgers and places them on the desk) I know she wants to meet me for lunch today.

Gabriel: Maybe she's made a decision.

Quentin: Maybe. (He looks at Gabriel) Why do you think Josette didn't come back?

Gabriel: Well she could have left him. But I don't think so. She could be to ill to travel or she may have... Well you know.

Quentin: Yes. That same thought crossed my mind.

Gabriel: Have you met Sarah's family?

Quentin: No. Maggie's brother is coming to the wedding?

Gabriel: Yes. (They look around and the office is clean.) Did you notice if anything was missing?

Quentin: Nothing. (Enter Barnabas. Matthew is following.) Hello cousin. How are you?

Barnabas: I'm fine.

Gabriel: Will you answer a question?

Barnabas: If I can.

Quentin: What has happened to Josette? Did she leave you?

Barnabas: Yes and no. (They look at him.) I lost my precious Josette to a fever. But she is always with me in my heart.

Quentin: I'm sorry.

Gabriel: As am I. She was a fine woman.

Barnabas:Thank you. She was.

Matthew: Mr. Collins? (They look at him) Mr. Quentin, Miss Sarah, would like you to meet her at her house?

Quentin: OK. Thank you, Matthew.

(He smiles and Matthew exits.)

Barnabas: Quentin, I actually came by so we could talk.

Quentin: What about?

Barnabas: Sarah. (Quentin looks at him) I've been hearing rumors.
