Gabriel We're leaving at the end of the week.

Quentin We are?

Gabriel We have the trip to Martinique.

Quentin Is Maggie staying here?

Gabriel No. she'll accompany us. I would appreciate it if you would be here for the next two nights. I have to go out of town and I'll be back in three days.

Quentin Does Maggie know?

Gabriel Yes. I can count on you?

Quentin Of course. (He smiles.)

Act 1 Scene 4

(That night. Enter Quentin. He's drunk. He goes up to his room and starts to undress. He hears Maggie scream and he runs to her. She opens the door and she's sitting straight up in bed. She's crying and shaking. He goes to her and he touches her. She looks at him and he sits on the edge of the bed. He shirtless and she's crying into his chest. He's stroking her hair and murmuring words. After a few minutes she calms down.)What happened?

Maggie Just a bad dream. (She looks up at him) Thank you.

Quentin That's what brothers-in-law are for. (He smiles.)Now lets get you tucked in. (He stands and she lays down. He pulls the covers up) Alright now?

Maggie Yes. Thank you.

Quentin Sure. Uh...(She looks at him) I'm sorry about this morning.

Maggie That's alright. Would you sit with me until I get sleepy? (He looks at her) Please?
