Act 1 Scene 1

(An Apartment. Enter Quentin. He puts books down on a table and sits on the couch. He closes his eyes. Enter Gabriel)

Gabriel Hi Quentin.

Quentin Sh-h. Not so loud.

Gabriel Too much fun last night? Dad sure named you right. (Quentin opens one eye) Great Uncle Quentin like to drink. Remember?

Quentin Yeah. I only drink like that when I'm celebrating.

Gabriel I know. Are you ready to go to the library?

Quentin Yeah. Why?

Gabriel I was going to go and thought that we could go together.

Quentin Well. I'm as ready as I'll ever be. (He stands and grabs his books. They exit.)

Act 1 Scene 2

(The library. Enter Angelique and Daphne)

Daphne How did I ever let you talk me into this?

Angelique You know you need to study. (They sit at a table. Enter Quentin and Gabriel. The only available place to sit it with Daphne and Angelique. They walk over and Angelique looks up.)

Gabriel Would you mind if we share the table?

Daphne Please. (They sit. Quentin opens his books and begins. Angelique smiles at Gabriel.)

Act 1 Scene 3

(Three hours later outside the library. Gabriel is talking to Daphne)

Gabriel Hello. My name's Gabriel Collins.

Daphne Hello. (They shake hands) My name's Daphne. (Quentin and Angelique enter and stop back away from them.)Who is your friend?

Gabriel He's my brother Quentin. (She looks at him)

Daphne He was named after the library?

Gabriel Actually he was named after the man. He's our Great Uncle. (He smiles)Would you like to take in a movie on Friday?

Daphne I...I'd like to but my cousin...

Gabriel So bring her along. I'll find a date for her. To keep her company.

Daphne Ok. (Quentin smiles at Angelique)

Quentin My name's Quentin Collins.

Angelique I'm Angelique Bouchard.

Quentin I'll bet people call you Angie.

Angelique Actually I don't like Angie.

Quentin What would you like me to call you?

Angelique Miss Bouchard. (She smiles sweetly at him) If you call me anything else I won't aknowledge you.

Quentin Have you always had a problem dealing with the peons in your life? Ms.
Bouchard.(She looks at him and he looks up at the sky. It's clear and blue.) You're
lucky.

Angelique Why is that?

Quentin Well if it were to rain you could drown with your nose so high in the
air. (He walks off. He walks past Gabriel. Gabriel exits. Daphne walks over to Angelique. She's fuming.)

Angelique Of all the conceited, arrogant attitudes.

Daphne Who? What?

Angelique Quentin Collins. If I never see him again it will be too soon! (They exit.)

Act 1 Scene 4

(Quentin and Gabriel's apartment. They enter.)

Gabriel Who was that young lady?

Quentin Angelique Bouchard. (Gabariel looks at him.) What? She prefers Miss Bouchard.

Gabriel Did Grandma ever tell you that Uncle Quentin mentioned an Angelique?

Quentin No. (He looks at Gabriel) I'm sure she's not the same one.

Gabriel I would hope not. She'd be close to forty.

Quentin More like one hundred and forty.

Gabriel Anyway. What are you doing Friday?
