Quentin OK. (She exits.)

Act 1 Scene 2

(A few days later at the ship yard. Quentin and Chris are going over some plans. Enter Gabriel. Chris looks up.)

Chris Gabriel! (They clasp hands)

Gabriel Hello Chris. How are you?

Chris I'm fine.

Quentin Well little brother it's good to have you home.

Gabriel It's good to be here. So Chris when do I get to meet this woman who stole your heart?

Chris Tonight. She's coming for dinner.

Gabriel When's the big day?

Chris In a couple of weeks. So how was England?

Gabriel English. We have a couple of new clients.

Quentin New business. How's Vicky?

Gabriel You should ask her husband.(They look at him) She met a gentleman and they married.(He smiles) Which is why it took me so long to get back.

Chris You stayed for your fiancé's wedding?

Gabriel Not only did I stay for the wedding I gave the bride away.

Quentin At least no one can say you're harboring feelings for her.

Gabriel No. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going home. I'll see you all tonight.(He exits.)

Quentin Now you can go on your honeymoon.

Chris Yes. (He looks at Quentin.)Are you taking this well?

Quentin Yes. You and Maggie have my blessing. (Chris smiles) And if I get to the point I can't take it I'll go visit that nice young lady. (Chris frowns) Her name is Charity.

Chris Oh. Yeah. The talk is she's well worth the money.

Quentin And do you know it first hand? (Chris smiles and turns red)

Chris Well...You know how it is.Sometimes a man's got to get down to basics.

Quentin Does Maggie know?

Chris No! (Quentin laughs)What? I didn't tell her.

Quentin I hate to burst your bubble but Maggie has the same desires as you do.

Chris How can you say that? You're not saying that you and her.....

Quentin No. What you feel is natural. It's natural for the both of you.

Chris Is she....?

Quentin Yes. After the ceremony you won't need Miss Charity.

Chris You really think so?

Quentin I know so. (They smile)Let's finish this up and go home. (They resume looking at the plans.)

Act 1 Scene 3

(Maggie's cottage. She opens the door. A man and woman are there.)

Maggie Sarah! (They hug) How are you?

Sarah I'm fine.

Maggie Come in. (They enter and she closes the door) Why didn't let me know? I would have met you. (She looks at the man.)

Sarah Maggie Evans, this is my fiancé the Reverend Nathaniel Trask.(They shake hands)

Nathaniel How are you Miss Evans?

Maggie I'm fine and please call me Maggie. (She smiles) I'll send word to........

Nathaniel Miss Evans?

Maggie Yes?

Nathaniel Is there an inn?

Maggie Actually my fiancé's family has offered to let you both stay there.

Nathaniel Really?
