Subj: Transcending Time, ch. 3

GRANT: I said you will shut up! (She looks at him.) I know that you're an orphan and that the company was your father's. His name was Joseph and your mother's name was Sarah. It was actually her middle name. She was named after a great aunt. You were named Josephine Sarah Davidson. You've been engaged twice. Both times the engagement was called off. You are presently single, and have a mouth that needs to be kissed. (He kisses her soundly and she's stunned,) Now, talk if you want.

JOEY: You are the most arrogant, conceited son of -- (He kisses her again and she moans. She wraps both arms around his neck.

Act 2 Scene 5 The next morning at Grant's apartment.

(Joey is asleep and Grant is watching her. She's tossing and turning. She's talking in her sleep and he leans closer to hear her.)

JOEY: Please don't hurt him. No! I promise I'll do what you want. Please. (She screams) No! (She sits up in bed and she's shaking. Grant holds her and she begins to sob.)

Act 3 Scene 1

(Quentin is pacing the floor. Lee opens the door and Quentin tackles him. He knocks him out and runs out. He sees an open door and he enters. He sees Gabriel tied to a chair and Mike has a gun to his head.)

MIKE: I think you need to go back to your room, Mr. Collins. Unless you want to see his brains on the floor.

(Enter Lee. He grabs Quentin's arm and starts to lead him out.)

QUENTIN: What do you want?

MIKE: In good time.

QUENTIN: If you hurt him I'll --

MIKE: Do nothing as you won't know. (Quentin watches as he gags Gabriel.) This time keep him there.

(Lee and Quentin exit. He hears voices as Lee shoves him into the room. He shuts the door and locks it. He walks back toward Gabriel's room as Mike enters. They exit.)

Act 3 Scene 2 Upstairs in the library.

(Enter Mike and Lee. Someone is sitting in a chair in the shadows.)

PERSON: Are they settled in?

MIKE: Yeah. How long do we have to keep them?

PERSON: Until I say otherwise.

LEE: Quentin is the one we have to worry about.

PERSON: Not as long as we have someone he cares about. We have Gabriel now, but there is another.

MIKE: Who?

PERSON: His fiancé. Her name is Sarah.

LEE: So we let Gabriel go and grab her?

PERSON: Maybe we can use both. (They begin to talk.)

Act 3 Scene 3 Sarah's home.

(She opens the door and Mike is there.)

SARAH: May I help you?

MIKE: Sarah?

SARAH: Yes.

MIKE: I was told to come and get you. Quentin's been hurt. (She looks stunned)

SARAH: How bad? Where is he?

MIKE: If you'll come with me I'll take you to him.

(She grabs her cloak and they exit.)
