Victoria Winters sat at the counter at the Collinsport Diner and listened with increasing uneasiness as waitress Maggie Evans told her about the ghostly Collinwood and the strange people living there.

The overly-sensitive Vicki, horrified when the other woman called her a "Jerk--j-e-r-k," stood up, grabbed her purse and suitcase, and returned to the front desk of the Collinsport Inn.

"The hell with finding out my true identity," Vicki muttered. "I'll go back to New York and become a famous stage actress. I'll pick a stage name and call myself whatever I damn please."

Victoria Winters, heaving a sigh of relief at her close call, got on the next train heading to New York and never looked back.

At Collinwood, Roger told Elizabeth Collins, "A watched pot never boils."

He was right.
