Suddenly, Lestat found himself before the investigative eyes of a man? He could not say whether this being was actually a man. It walked slowly around Lestat, examining each inch of him.
Lestat began feeling like this being was arrogant beyond belief and deserved to have his life snuffed out. His temper began to rise as he watched this being inspecting him as though he was a horse being bartered off.
Sensing now that the vampires temper was being pushed, he came back around to face him finally.
Lestat looked into the face that held two eyes. Inside, where the pupils should be were only the flames of Hells fires.
Finally, Lestat spoke with arrogant drawl, "Who are you?" at this thing.
Diabolos was taken aback. Never had any being, mortal or otherwise that had the balls enough to speak to him like that.
Stunned at first, a smile, cold and cruel crept upon his face at hearing the question from this fine specimen.
A vampire that had been brought back from the deepest and dankest netherworld which was even beyond his domain. The world of the final death of a vampire and their other tormented kin, the werewolf.
He leaned his head towards the face of Lestat, and stated in a low, dangerous and heated growl, "I am known by many names, but in this tiny speck of sand in the hourglass of time, I am called Diabolos".
Lestat stood firm, he wasn't about to let this..this..."creature" intimidate him.
Thinking to himself as he lifted his chin in haughtiness, he was after all, greatest of all the vampires that walked the dark of night. He, after all, never bowed to any other, but rather, they to him.
Diabolos was becoming rather impressed by Lestats over-inflated ego.
Tapping his index finger as he studied the vampire again he thought to himself, "yes, he was indeed, perfect. Even if he is a self pompous ass."
Finally he spoke again. "What is your desire Lestat? To walk the earthly plain once more? To feast upon mortals? Ah yes! I know thats what it is."
Diabolos turned towards a wall and with a wave of his hand, it wavered and glimmered before it vanished, showing a cavern that held pools of fire that belched out noxious and poisonous fumes. Flames that licked up the sides of the valley further in the distance.
Even Lestat felt the crumpling of his own sanity at the visions and sounds that invaded his eyes and ears.
Tormented screams echoed from the valleys walls as disfigured creatures scuttled for hiding places, knowing that they were too hideous to be seen.
Diabolos kept his back turned from the vampire. "Now, I would offer a deal for you Lestat, and if you chose not to take it, you will remain here." Diabolos knew he had already won as his corrupt smile returned. Lestats' eyes swept across the horror of the scene below and bowed his head in defeat.
Diabolos turned to face Lestat once more. Lestat at last, looked back up into the now coal blackness of his masters eyes.
Lestats loathing oozed from his voice. He finally hissed a deadly, "yes, I will do your bidding, but never again."
Diabolos turned again to face the once proud vampire, knowing he had beaten him.
Tension sparked the air as each of them locked eyes. "What do you wish me to do?"
Lestat tried to regain some of his composure, raised his head, crossed his arms and once more, and resumed his regal stance. Diabolos noticed that a sneer crossed Lestats handsome face.
Good, he thought, he is not too easily intimidated or defeated. He knew he had made the right choice.
At that moment, a voice interrupted the discussion, "I have come Master, what may I do for you?"
Both supernatural beings turned in the direction of the voice. "Ahh, Nicholas, you have decided to grace us with your presence and finally chosen to come?"....................................
