She knew that she was disobeying what Lestat had told her, but in her priority was more of her desire to see Barnabas.
She longed to feel again his touch, to hear his soft and reassuring voice, to feel safe from the horrors, enveloped and shielded away from the nightmares.
The baby moved again as to warn her of the dangers that all of them could face taking this risk.
She placed her hand upon her stomach, and gently caressing the child, said "shush, be still my dear little one, I will not let any harm to come to you or your father".

The scene became pale and distant like an old memory. It finally flickered and dimmed, the heartbreak returned again to Barnabas' dark eyes.
He thought, "yes the very sun that shone on her once, the sun that she will never see again, and I will never share with her its warmth again".
Then once more, another light flickered to life! Had he dare think that the vision would return! But instead of the beauty that she possessed, he instead saw the vision of the last moments as she was being carried away by Lestat.
Would he ever see her and their unborn child again?
Suddenly, putting down the brush, something told him that he was no longer alone. He felt a presence in the room turning quickly to see if Lestat had returned to torment him once more, to cause anguish to him yet again,
but instead, saw Anne...................
