After a great while, Barnabas was finally once again renewed and ready to battle.

Rising from his sitting position on the cold and damp floor, he looked down upon Willie and with a quick rush of motion, picked him up, and carried his old friend to the Old House.

Carefully, he lay him upon the bed Ann and he would never use again. He delicately touched the cheek of Willie, regret and heartbreak filled the great vampyre once more. He wished to stay, but he knew he could not and instantly, Barnabas was gone into the cold and fog-enshrouded night to Anne.

He knew he must hurry. Anns voice kept tearing through his brain, and his soul, pleading, begging. He thought he would go mad from it.

Within moments, he appeared before the door of the house-by-the-sea. From his violence and hatred he was unable to control, he ripped open the door leaving only splinters and broken fragments of wood.

His eyes locked onto a sizable piece of the wood, he grabbed it and proceeded to the cellar.

"Now I shall forever destroy you Lestat, as you have me and my life. And just as I destroy you, so shall I ruin Nicholas forever, may he burn forever in the fiery pits of hell!"

Carefully and quietly, he opened the heavy wooden door to the basement. Descending the stairs step-by careful step, he caught a glimpse of his bitter enemy. Barnabas watched, carefully spying each detail that Lestat was doing.

Searching through the darkness, he knew that Nicholas was gone, but to where? He didn't care right now, he would handle Nicholas in due time.

What mattered to him at the moment was the powerful vampyre before him, in his rage and fury, and only wanting to snuff out the life of Lestat.

Satisfied that only he and Lestat were alone, Barnabas sprung from the top step at him.

Surprised and shocked, Lestat was caught unawares from behind. Reacting, he flung himself against Barnabas, encircling his throat with his tapered fingers.

Barnabas was still weaker than Lestat. But with his struggle, attempted to push Lestat away from him, he slammed Barnabas against the wall causing Barnabas to lose his momentum and slide down the roughness.

He may have been down, but definately not out.

He shook his head as he held it. Lestat jeered and mocked him as he towered over the form of Barnabas.

"Can't take it anymore my old friend?" Your too old and weak. You've become too mortal in your life again."

A diseased laugh escaped from Lestat. Then, again instantly he was at Barnabas' throat, attempting to finally take the last of his immortal life by draining Barnabas' blood.

Barnabas grabbed Lestats arms and wrestled him to the floor. He sat on top of Lestasts chest, pinning him to the floor, momentarily.

Pulling the wood from the inside pocket of his cape, a great and powerful roaring escaped Barnabas. Lestats deadened eyes grew large as the realization that his end was forthcoming.

Taking this opportunity, Barnabas raised the piece of wood above his head and plunged it down with such fierceness into the heart of Lestat.

His rage drove him to keep pushing down on the wood, even raising his own weight upon the bloodied wood until the body that had been Lestat began to disintergrate to its real ancient and dried bones.

The prince of all vampyres was no more.

Rising ever so slowly, the bones continued in their degression turning to nothing more than ashes in seconds.

Even though Lestat was gone now forever, he held the feeling of still being haunted by him.

Turning to the area behind him, he saw the machine that held Anne.

He went to her side and tried to touch her, but was found a seal that was impregnable from the beams. His eyes immediatly went to the controls. He took his fists and smashed the mechanisms that controlled the lasers.

The canopy collapsed and Anne was once again before Barnabas. Barnabas had at once noticed, their child was gone.

His soul, and spirit were crushed. Nicholas had indeed won, and he had gotten his ultimate revenge against Barnabas for being punished from before.

In his pained and tortured soul, he tearfully placed his hand against her face to caress it with gentle touches, he softly whispered to her, "we are together again, forever" as he held his head down and silenty cried for their loss, for he had lost his only child.

Annes eyes slowly opened, confused and not realizing yet what had happened. She touched her stomach, and not feeling the baby, grabbed Barnabas by his arm, and asked him what had happened to thier baby.

He was unable to answer her, he simply held her and and finally said through his tears, "I don't know, it is my belief, that the baby is with Nicholas now" she looked for Lestat and not seeing him, asked Barnabas where he was. "Gone, he is gone from us forever".

They both cried for the loss of the child that was stolen..ripped from them.

Barnabas, ever so gently helped Ann up, as he did, held tightly onto her.

They now both looked into each others eyes as the cruel sounds they both heard in the distance began to surround them.

At first a soft newborn babys cry, followed by a cold evil laughter..............
