She came closer to him, To find protection. He would give her none. He felt guilt instead. Guilt that he had made her what he is. She was too willing, too wanting to leave the living.
Her life was nothing anymore when he first saw her, except streets and strangers. Hunger and loneliness.
He was wondering, was looking, searching for his latest bloodfeast, and he saw her. She was crumpled into a ball in the corner of a back alley. With a puzzled expression, he could not fathom why a girl would be in such a place at this time of night. He thought to himself as he caught sight of her, she could only be eighteen or nineteen years old. He grew nearer to her, she felt his closeness and became tense. Stopping, he asked her in a heavy but quiet voice, why she was there. She stared at him. Still not speaking, he looked at the girl, and again asked what would bring her out on a night such as this? She shifted her body, she replied that she had no where to go, and that she was looking for death, hoping to leave this earthly plain. But she was afraid. She didn't really want to die, just to rid herself of this existence. She rose up and came closer to him. She said "Why do you want to know?"
You don't know me, nor should you want to".
Barnabas asked "Why would I NOT want to?" Turning away from him,"because I am no good. My family has given me up for dead already, and I hate the everyone in this world." She turned back once again to face him.
Looking into his eyes, his inner being. Her eyes began to grow bigger. "I know what you are!" "Make me a part of your world, I want no more of this one."
"you don't want that." He replied.
As he gazed into her soul, he knew she was horribly alone, unloved and no-one to miss her. She was a desolute being, desperate for belonging to someone, a part of a whole. "Bring me across! I beg of you!"
Again, needing the lifeforce that she could provide for him, he drew closer.
