She ran to the front of him, hindering him from walking further. She searched in his eyes for answers, for just a clue. He turned so he would not have to look at her. She instantly regretted asking him. She noticed his tall stately shoulders begin to sag as if to hold them up was a great effort. He was tortured having to return here yet again, and having to show another fledgling this Hell. But, he had to. He had to guide them all so they would remember and learn. Each time, it tore at him, pulling all his strength, and emotions, leaving nothing but pain. It hadn't been enough just to turn them into one of the creatures of the night, but also to show the terrors that would come to them if they were careless, if they were ever caught by the humans without the protection of their blackness found only inside a coffin.He said, "that it is for your very existence that you are here."

"Come, we must continue, to linger here would be folly." She hadn't realized until this moment any pain or fatigue. Her muscles did not scream in pain though for anybody else would have been at the point of sheer exhaustion, after, what she felt had been miles of walking. Asking about this, he remarked, "It is, if you will, an advantage of our species. We feel nothing. No pain, no physical limitations except for the poison that the sun brings us. The only pain some of us feel, is in our-- his voice then barely became a whisper, "heart". She glanced out at the landscape noticing it again changing. It was familiar, like pictures of where the nuclear tests sites were at.

She wasn't keeping up with Barnabas, and became alarmed when she saw the distance between them widening. She ran up to him, only feeling safe when she was once again by his side. Glancing back at the shack they had passed earlier, she regretted looking at the creature that slunk behind the building.......
