"Have you gone mad?" Julia said.
"My dear Doctor, I assure you I am as sane as you wish to be. Or is it you have decided once and for all which one of them you love?" Nicholas said with a small evil smile, pulling Donnamarie into his embrace.
"You are insane. And Angelique is dead, Barnabas got rid of her." Julia said, pulling on her gloves.
Nicholas laughed, for the first time since this business began, he laughed a very real laugh, and finally said, "Barnabas has halfheartedly tried to get rid of Angelique for two centuries, and never once succeeded." Nicholas said, biting his tongure trying to control his laughter.
"He's right," Angelique said walking in the room, smiling at a startled Julia.
The Old House
Shoving Barnabas through the double doors of the Old House, a very piqued Willie Loomis said while shoving him down the cellar stairs, "have you gone mad? What the hell is the matter with you?"
"Let me die, Willie." a weakened Barnabas said.
"You have finally lost it, Barnabas. It's Angelique. She's back, and put a spell on you, is that it?" Willie said, helping Barnabas off with his cape.
"Of course not, she can't put a spell on me. Quentin's dead, Willie. It's my fault, and I don't want to live without him." Barnabas said sadly.
"The world will be a better place without him. I never liked him. He was trying to come between you and Julia. I tried to tell you that, but you wouldn't listen to ole' Willie Loomis, no, sir. That's your problem, Barnabas, you never lissen to me. I'm not as old as you, but I've been around a lot more than you have, and I know Quentin's type. He's a scoundrel or was a scoundrel. " Willie finished, noticing that Barnabas was asleep. He shut the lid, and said, softly, you'll be glad once you think about it, he said, and walked up the stairs.
Blair House,
"Face it, Julia, you've lost. It's each other they love, and want to be with. You're nothing more than an object to either one of them. They used you." Angelique said laughing.
"I simply do not believe it. Quentin is not like that. I know he loves me, and I know Barnabas does too," Julia said blushing at the thought of the night she had had with Barnabas. That picture was pushed out of her mind with Quentin challenging Barnabas to name her favorite movie. Barnabas couldn't, but Quentin could. It was as if he knew every intimate detail of her life, and had taken the time to find out about her. She now realized how much she loved Quentin, and was not going to give him up without one helluva fight. When she thought he had been really dying, she knew it then for a certainty.
"Dr. Hoffman, let me give you a little bit of advice, do not come between them. It won't work. They love each other and have for years." Nicholas said irritated.
"They cannot love each other in *that* manner." Julia said, knowing the comment sounded anemic.
"Why not? Because they're both men? Do not judge them by your puny mortal standards. They are not like you, and have not been for a very long time. Barnabas has had more men than you could fathom, it doesn't mean the same thing to him as it does to you. Do not forget his nature, Dr. Hoffman. He's not human. Quentin is immortal, and has suffered a supernatural curse, and does not think like you, Roger or any other mortal. So, if you're going to use those grounds to try and get what you want, it won't work, not that it will anyway.
"I don't want to be rude, but this subject is growing very tiresome. Good day, Doctor." Nicholas said.
Julia walked over to Angelique and said with narrowed eyes, "my goodnes, you've been very quiet. You're just going to hand Barnabas over to Quentin, just like that. You're weaker than I thought, and believe me, that was weak." Julia finished with a very wicked smile.
"Julia" --Angelique started.
"Good day, Angelique, Nicholas, Donnamarie." Julia
said, a plan formulating in her mind.
